How to arrive to Mahahual
Getting to Mahahual from Cancún
Cancún – Playa del Carmen – Tulum – Felipe Carrillo Puerto – Limones – Mahahual
Arriving by CAR
- Take the Federal Highway 307 towards Chetumal.
- You will pass through Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Felipe Carrillo Puerto and Limones.
- We recommend going along the toll road (sign of Chetumal Cuota) to avoid crossing the city of Felipe Carrillo Puerto. Altough you will have to charge gas in Tulum since there are no more gas stations until Mahahual.
- After passing the village of Limones you will see an indication to turn left to the village of Mahahual.
- A road of 55 kilometers with a single curve (km 20) and you will have reached Mahahual.

From Cancún to Mahahual
Wednesday, Friday and Sunday 7:30 am
From Cancún Airport, take the ADO bus to Playa del Carmen.
- In Playa Del Carmen, ask at the counter for the bus timetable to Mahahual or check it online at the ADO website.
- If there is no direct transport to Mahahual check Arriving by Van.

- There are Vans from Cancún to Playa del Carmen, from Playa del Carmen to Felipe Carrillo Puerto, from Felipe Carrillo Puerto to Limones or to Pedro Antonio Santos.
- From Limones you have a Caribe bus to Mahahual or you can take a Taxi ( 450 Mxn). From Pedro Antonio Santos you have to cross the road and wait for a yellow van to Mahahual, a Caribe bus or you can take a taxi.
Getting to Mahahual from Chetumal, Chetumal airport or Bacalar
Chetumal – Bacalar – Pedro Antonio Santos – Mahahual :
Arriving by CAR
- Take the Federal Highway 307 towards Cancún.
- You will pass through Bacalar and after passing Pedro Antonio Santos, a village that sells pineapples on the road where you can buy some fresh fruit there, you will see an indication to turn right towards Mahahual.
- A road of 55 kilometers with a single curve (km 20) and you will have reached Mahahual.
Arriving by ADO bus

- From the Airport or from the city take a taxi to the New ADO terminal of Chetumal to get in a Caribe bus to Mahahual.
Caribe’s timetable is: - Chetumal to Mahahual:
05:40 am, 08:30 am, 10:30 am, 4:30 pm - Mahahual to Chetumal:
6:30 am, 3:30 pm, 5:30 pm, 6:30 pm - From Bacalar: Go to the ADO terminal on the Federal Highway. Timetable is the same as from Chetumal, just add 40 minutes.
Arriving by VAN
- Take a taxi to the old ADO terminal of Chetumal and from there take a van to Mahahual. You can find the timetables at the end of this page.
- If you are going from Bacalar, go to the federal highway and wait for a yellow van towards Mahahual.
Getting to Mahahual from Mérida
Mérida – Pedro Antonio Santos – Mahahual :
Arriving by CAR
- Take the 184 road until Chunhuhub and change to the 293 to Pedro Antonio Santos ( pineapple village where you can buy some fresh fruits).
- After Pedro Antonio Santos you will see an indication to turn right towards Mahahual.
- A road of 55 kilometers with a single curve (km 20) and you will have reached Mahahual.
Arriving by ADO bus

- Take an Ado bus to Bacalar and from there take a Caribe bus to Mahahual.
- Ask at the counter for the bus timetable to Mahahual or check it online at the ADO website .
Arriving by VAN
- We don’t recommend this way because there are too many stops and changing Vans.
